Galole Constituency Member of Parliament Said Buya alias Posta has called on the Commission for Revenue Allocation to stop allocating funds to the rich Counties because the Equalization Fund is meant to benefit marginalized Counties like Tana River.
Speaking at Hola County Commissioner’s office today when the MP and Garsen MP Ali Wario Guyo met the Commission Team, Buya said the addition of 20 other Counties like Kiambu and Nairobi will reduce the share of original 14 marginalized Counties saying room should not be created for unfair distribution.
Garsen Mp praised the Revenue Authority for visiting the Counties on the ground instead of sharing the Revenue from their Nairobi Office.
He said the allocation of Funds should be conducted by Authority team after ground appraisal.
In response, Commissioner, Ms. Hadija Juma called on the MPs to stop fighting for the equalization Fund, saying its only 0.5% of the total Revenue therefore, they should allow only the deserving Counties to benefit.
Tana River County Commissioner, Omar Beja accompanied the Team to Majengo village in Wenje division where they met with local leaders and obtained views from villagers.
