President William Ruto continues to emphasize that ambitious strategies to combat corruption will bear fruit.

Speaking at the Linzi Sukuk Bell-Ringing ceremony, Nairobi Securities Exchange, on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, he promised to deal strictly with those involved in corruption.

Ruto has insisted on taking the perpetrators to justice if they are found guilty of corruption and misappropriation of public resources.

Ruto has said that this move will bear fruit if the proposed amendments to the laws are passed.

Ruto believes that the laws to control the use of money and public resources will help fight corruption.

This measure seems to reduce the cases of corruption that are rampant in various sectors and are reported frequently.

"I did propose in my statement a few days ago that we are looking at changing the laws so that it is possible to ensure that within 6 months those charged with corruption must be brought to book and sent to jail if found guilty," stated Ruto.

The president has clarified that the move will ensure that government money and resources are used wisely and for the benefit of the public.

He has claimed that many resources and public funds have been benefiting individuals while they have been allocated to benefit all Kenyans.

The president has spoken about the issue of the responsibility of leaders for the services and activities they do and explained that if these laws are passed, they will facilitate the transparency of the functioning of government officials and employees.

"I want to give you my commitment that we will devote and with a lot of clarity deal with challenges of accountability making sure that public resources are spent for the intentions for which they have been planned for and that those who come in the way of government resources misappropriation orloss shall be held to account, he assured.

"It is a means of making sure that public resources are used for public and not for private profit," he added.

President Ruto proposed amendments to the Evidence Act and Criminal Procedure Code, Witness Protection Act, Public Finance Management Act and the Public Procurement and Disposal Act.
