Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has been appointed to head Kenya Kwanza Alliance's national campaigns in Kiambu County. This comes days after the senator lost in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries where he was seeking the party's ticket to contest the Ruiru parliamentary seat during the August 9, 2022, general elections. Mwaura's appointment was announced by Deputy President William Ruto on Monday, April 25, 2022, following an extensive meeting that was held at the DP's official Karen residence. "Welcome Hon @MwauraIsaac1  to the Kenya Kwanza national campaign. Your magnanimity to accept the outcome of our just concluded party nominations in Ruiru Constituency adds to your leadership credentials. Mwaura conceded defeat to his competitor, Ruiru MP Simon King'ara Ng'ang'a, in the recently held UDA party nominations. Ng'ang'a got 4,688 votes while senator Mwaura followed suit with 2,428 votes. The Senator on Sunday, April 17, noted that it was time to heal the wounds and forge ahead in ensuring that DP Ruto succeeds President Uhuru Kenyatta, in the upcoming August 9 polls. The senator added that the party and the voice of the people were much greater than their self-interests. "Joining hands with my competitor Simon Ng’ang’a today at Kist county tallying centre after he was declared winner of the Ruiru parliamentary seat that I hotly contested for. It’s now time to heal the deep wounds out of the party primaries and thus move forward towards the August General Election." "This is to ensure that the party remains united and focused towards our aim of ensuring that H.E Deputy President William Ruto becomes the 5th President our great country. The party and its ideals are far much greater than any one of us. Putting God first, we shall win!! I thank you!" he stated. The Senator had initially rejected the results, claiming that the exercise was unfair and ought to be repeated. He had initially urged UDA party officials to declare the Ruiru parliamentary nominations null and void.

"We will file a formal complaint to the party because what happened in Ruiru was not an election. It was all shambolic and the evidence we have is very clear. We want UDA to declare the exercise null and void and allow Ruiru people to engage in a free and fair electoral process," Mwaura noted.
