Son and mother held over father's death in Chepalungu

A 21-year-old man is being held at the Bomet police station following the death of his father whose body was dumped in a dam two weeks ago.
Zephaniah Bett is said to have confessed to killing his father under the instructions of his 52-year-old mother at Chepanyiny, Chepalungu Sub County, Bomet County.
Chepalungu sub county police Commander Phanton Analo said the court had ordered the exhumation of Joseph Cheruiyot's body after it was hurriedly buried without the knowledge of Government authorities.
Analo divulged that according to Rift Valley Government pathologist Dr. Titus Ngulungu, the deceased died of strangulation. He further stated that it took the intervention of police officers to save the two suspects from being lynched by members of the public.
Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa disclosed that the suspects have been detained to undergo mental assessment before being arraigned in court to face the charges.
