TSC extends teacher recruitment application deadline
By Peter Ochieng
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has extended the application deadline for the recruitment of 46, 000 teachers, across the country.
The deadline has been extended to the midnight of October 08, 2024.
“The Commission has extended the deadline for application for recruitment to 8th October 2024 at midnight,” TSC said in a statement on its social media platforms, on Tuesday morning.
On October 01, 2024, TSC announced mass recruitment of teachers, to address a shortage in primary, junior and secondary schools across the country.
The Commission is seeking to employ 46,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms. 39,550 slots are for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), 450 for Secondary Schools and 6, 000 for Primary Schools.
“Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke,” the advert read in part.
The deadline for submitting applications was on October 07, 2024. Two days after the advertisement, TSC has issued an apology over technical challenges affecting the teacher recruitment portal.
Teachers had expressed frustrations after their application bids were met with technical challenges, forcing the Commission to issue a statement.
“We regret to inform you that we are currently experiencing technical challenges affecting the teacher recruitment portal. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and kindly request your patience as we work diligently to restore the portal as soon as possible,” TSC said.
Applicants had flooded TSC social media pages, after their applications failed to materialise. The Primary School applicants, the advertisement said, must have at least a P1 certificate, while those applying for the junior or senior secondary school positions must hold at least a diploma in education.
Those serving as interns were urged to apply within their current counties, sub-counties, or workstations, and will only be required to present their identity cards during verification.
