Two men in Court over Ivory

Two men have been arraigned at Loitoktok law court after they were arrested for being in possession of elephant tusks contrary to the law.
Robert Turere and Peter Nyamare appeared before Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku charged that on March 4, 2023, at Ilasit area, along Illasit- Rombo road found with 14 pieces of elephant tusks weighing 38 kg with a street value of Sh 570, 000.
According to Victor Nchoe an officer attached at Amboseli National Park, on the material day, they received an intelligent report that the two were transporting the tusks on a motorcycle.
Together with his colleagues, Nchoe was directed to the scene of the crime by their informer.
When they arrived in a private car, the officers found four men standing on the roadside besides a motorcycle loaded with sacks containing the game trophy.
The accused persons managed to escape but they were later arrested by police and arraigned in court.
The court set July 20 for making the ruling.
