Two motorcycle riders died and got burnt beyond recognition while three passengers were left nursing serious injuries after the motorbikes they were riding on collided head-on at Enabelbel area along the Narok- Mau- Nakuru highway.

Confirming the incident last night, Narok County police commander John Kizito revealed that the bike that was traveling from Narok towards Mau direction was ridden by a 25-year-old man who had his wife and child on board at the time of the accident.

The second bike riding from the Nakuru direction towards Mau was ridden by a 35-year-old man carrying one passenger.

“The wife sustained a fractured hip joint, while the three-year-old daughter suffered a femoral fracture on the right leg. The passenger being ferried by the second motorbike sustained injuries on the lower back,” the County police boss said.

Kizito explained that the two bikes were traveling at high speed from opposite directions when they collided head-on at the accident spot. “The resultant impact of the accident caused the two bikes to burst into flames leading to the incineration of the riders beyond recognition,” the police officer added.

Further, Kizito divulged that the three passengers who sustained serious injuries were rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital while the charred remains of the deceased were taken to the same facility’s morgue for preservation awaiting postmortem.

Both motorbikes were towed to Narok town police station yard pending inspection.

The police boss has since called on motorists to be careful while plying the highway to avoid causing accidents.

The incident comes barely a day after one person died when the probox vehicle he was traveling in rolled severally a few meters from the scene of last night’s incident.
