Wesley Kibet Kogo a UDA parliamentary aspirant who was eyeing the Nandi Hills constituency seat is dead. According to reports, the parliamentary hopeful was killed in a tragic road accident at Kangemi, Westlands area, Nairobi on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Confirming his demise, Kogo's family revealed that he was en route to a local radio station for a morning interview. His body was moved to City Mortuary pending an autopsy. "We the people of Nandi Hills constituency are waking up to not only sad but very disturbing and devastating news of the passing on of Kogo Wesley in a tragic road accident. "We thought we had finally found a leader who would restore the leadership and lost glory of our constituency. Our thoughts, hopes and dreams have suddenly been cut short... What a tragedy! What a loss! RIP my friend," residents mourned the late aspirant. His death comes barely a day after another UDA's Mvita constituency parliamentary aspirant survived an assassination attempt in Mombasa on Tuesday night, April 5. Ali Mwatsau cheated death after he was attacked by unknown assailants and his vehicle was sprayed with 22 bullets. Reports indicate that Mwatsau was attacked at the Tudor area while on his way home from a prayer meeting. The gunmen reportedly used two vehicles during the attack and disappeared from the scene immediately after spraying the bullets. Luckily, Mwatsau was rescued by a tuk-tuk driver who ferried him to a medical facility where he was admitted immediately. Mwatsau reportedly sustained injuries on his arms and legs. The shooting has caused anxiety in the area with many raising questions about the status of their security, considering that Mwatsau was attacked less than two kilometres from Makupa police station. Mwatsau’s vehicle was towed down to the police station to aid with investigations into the shooting. Mwatsau is keen to secure the Mvita parliamentary seat and replace current MP Abdulswamad Nassir who has expressed in the Mombasa Gubernatorial seat on an ODM ticket.
