The list of Kenyans seeking to be elected the next president continued to soar on Friday, April 01, 2022, as President Uhuru Kenyatta's look-alike Mike Gitonga announced his bid for the top seat.
'Uhunye wa Umo' as he is popularly known, because he resides in Nairobi's Umoja estate, Gitonga said he will vie as an independent candidate.
"I am Uhunye wa Umo, I am vying for the presidential seat as an independent candidate," he said in a video seen by this writer.
Unlike president Uhuru Kenyatta who comes from Kiambu County, Gitonga was born and raised in Nakuru County.

He said he will focus on agriculture to turn around Kenya's economic fortunes if he is elected the 5th president, to replace his look-alike, Uhuru Kenyatta who is expected to retire in August.
His photos went viral sometime back after Kenyans spotted a striking resemblance between him and the Head of State.
A section of Kenyans who came across the photos thought that they were throw-backs-of president Kenyatta, only to realize that they belonged to Gitonga.
He joins the presidential race that has big wigs, Deputy President (DP) William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
Among others in the race are Professor Wajackoyah, businessman Jimi Wanjigi and Damaris Too.
