Western Region Commissioner , Irungu Macharia, has issued a strong warning to the youth of Generation Z against getting involved in criminal cases during the protests.

Many young people expect to hold a demonstration on Thursday, August 8, 2024, termed as "Nanenane" across the country.

Addressing various stakeholders in Kakamega County, on August 2, 2024, Macharia has said that many young people are using the opportunity od protest to loot and destroy properties.

He has urged the youth in the country to protest in a peaceful manner without disrupting the stability and activities of other Kenyans.

He has claimed that the protest is being sponsored by individuals who bribe many young people to do damage.

Macharia said that the financiers are using the opportunity of unemployment among the youth to give them a little money and then serve them badly to fulfill their hidden intentions.

He has promised Western residents to deal with people who he claims are sponsoring the protests.

"I tell these people who we know who are always sponsoring, they give a little money for transport, they tell people tomorrow if you work, you will be given something to buy flour. We know them and we are following them," Stated Commissioner Macharia.

"So before that time comes, these donors, these criminals, we will have sent them to prison," he vowed.

He denounced the protests that Generation Z were doing that they lacked direction.

He has further explained that the young people have failed to appoint their leader to represent them to present their complaints to the government.

He pointed out that it has been difficult for the government to understand what they want because of the lack of coming to the public and using the appropriate way to communicate with the government.

"Now if you don't have a face, who are we going to ask?" He asked, "So the young people must come forward and look for leaders, to be able to meet leaders like us and others for discussion."

"Now that you are just saying you are leaderless, now who will you meet? Where?" Macharia asked.

The commissioner has advised the young people to be patient and making wise decisions to avoid causing losses to the nation.
