Beatrice Moe nominated EAC Cabinet Secretary

Beatrice Askul Moe has been nominated to join President William Ruto’s cabinet.
If approved by Members of Parliament (MPs), she will become the Cabinet Secretary (CS) in charge of the East African Community and Regional Development.
She is expected to take over from Penina Malonzo who was part of President Ruto’s first cabinet, dissolved about a month ago.
According to a dispatch from State House, Nairobi, Moe is a Social Scientist and a Consultant. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social science (Social Work) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Governance and Ethics.
She has previously served as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Water, Irrigation, Agriculture and Land Reclamation in the county government of Turkana.
Other positions she previously occupied include serving as a Director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Technical Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Audit Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Project Officer AMREF Kenya Turk Project and Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program.
“She has undertaken various certifications training including County Induction Course at Kenya School Government (Turkana County Government); Corporate Governance Course (CGC) while serving as a member of Rift Valley Water Services Board; Training on Audit Committees by KCA University, Institute Capacity Development; Training of Trainers (TOT) Course Community based development by AMREF Kenya; and Training Methodologies for Conducting Baseline Assessment Survey for Security and Nutrition Improvement Project Turkana,” reads the dispatch in part.
Moe becomes the 6th female nominee in President Ruto’s broad based cabinet.
The others are Roselinda Soipan Tuya, CS nominee, Ministry of Defence, Rebecca Miano, CS nominee, Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, Alice Wahome, CS nominee, Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Margaret Ndungu, CS nominee, Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, and Dorcas Oduor, Attorney General nominee. The nominees will be vetted by MPs starting Thursday, August 01, 2024.
