First Lady Rachel Ruto celebrates teachers

First lady Rachel Ruto has joined Kenyans and the International community in celebrating the World teachers day.
The day is set on 5th October annually to celebrate the incredible work that teachers do and their dedication and commitment in the line of Educating and mentorship for the next generation.
Mama Ruto who is also a professional teacher joined other teachers to mark a day that recognizes their work and contribution to the society.
In a Facebook post, the first lady termed teachers as the "backbone" of the society and hailed their inspirational role in the society
"Today, we celebrate the amazing work of teachers in Kenya and around the world who inspire, educate, and empower their students. Teachers are the backbone of society, and they deserve our gratitude and appreciation." Rachel Ruto stated.
"As a teacher myself, I know how challenging and rewarding this profession can be. I have seen the impact of teachers on the lives of their students, and I have also learned a lot from them. Teaching is not just a job, it is a passion and a calling." Added mama Rachel.
She thanked all teachers making a difference in the society marking them as 'heroes'.
The Teachers Service Commission amongst other educational stakeholders commemorated the day in an event held at The Kenya School of Government (KSG) at lower Kabete Nairobi.
TSC chief executive Officer Dr. Nancy Macharia led the event which was complimented by a tree planting exercise around the venue.
This year's theme is "The teachers we need, for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teachers shortage".
