Political analyst Prof Herman Manyora has affirmed his position that ODM leader Raila Odinga will win the August 2022 presidential election, adding that foreign governments have started preparing for Odinga’s presidency.
Speaking on Monday night during an interview on Lookup TV, Manyora noted that looking at the occurrence on the ground and borrowing from what has been happening in the past, all indications are that Raila will carry the day.
Citing remarks made by Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, the former Head of Public Service and Permanent Secretary for Provincial Administration in President Mwai Kibaki’s government, Manyora appeared to suggest that anyone who has eyes can see Raila is being prepared to be the next Head of State, judging by recent meeting and engagements he has held with different stakeholders.
“This thing is now at an international arena. Foreign governments are preparing for Raila to be President… Kimemia once said there is deep state and it deeper than what people think.

“Kimemia also said three years to an election the president is known, he said as early as 2010 they knew Uhuru is going to be president and they start preparing… If you have a nose for politics, if you smell around, you can tell that the ground is for Raila,” he opined.
Explaining why he believes Ruto cannot win the presidential election, Manyora noted that the numbers are not in his favour. He argued that as it stands, Ruto’s only probability of winning relies on him maintaining the same turnout that was recorded in Mt Kenya region in 2017, but noted that it is high unlikely that the same turnout will be recorded this year.
“I do not believe Raila can be beaten by Ruto. Numbers are not there for William Ruto. From 2007, this country is a 50-50 country when it comes to an election. In 2013, Uhuru escaped a runoff by 8,000 votes. In 2017, so many shenanigans happened. For Ruto to win, he must retain the Jubilee numbers… He will not maintain the same turnout recorded in Mt Kenya in 2017,” Manyora added.
