There was drama during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Rachuonyo sub-county after a section of Leaders walked out of the fete because protocol was not observed.

MP for Kasipul constituency Hon. Charles Ongondo Were led a section of the Members of the county assembly out of the function in protest arguing that the pecking order was inappropriate because he should have been the last speaker to close the ceremony.

He left the podium in a huff with politicians allied to his side in tow immediately after his speech in protest over what he saw as a protocol hitch.

The MP’s supporters including four members of county assembly (MCA s) from Kasipul constituency also followed suit leaving government officials and residents dumbfounded as the presidential speech had not yet read

“When I finish my speech I will go, because the sub-county administrator… I cannot call him to talk after me because he is a junior person in pecking order,” he said.

According to the program of the event once Hon.Ongondo was through with his speech, Mr. Robinson Magak, Kasipul sub-county administrator was to read Governor Gladys Wanga’s speech, and then the president’s speech was to follow after.

The MP said according to the leaders within Homabay County, the person who is above him in the pecking order is only the governor.

“The senator, we are in the same job group; women rep, we are in the same job group. when Hon.Mbadi was the minority leader, then in pecking order he was my boss,” he said.

Rachuonyo South sub-county Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) David Kiprop said he will go out of his way to reach out to the MP over the action.

“It isn’t a very good show if you ask me, and I say this with a lot of humility,” the DCC said.
