Nkarretta mixed Secondary School Principal George Kuluo, Narok county, has said many parents were struggling to take Form one students to the school as roads have been rendered impassable because of the current heavy downpour in the area.

Consequently, Kuluo observed that some of the parents from far off areas were being forced to spend over two days, while traveling to the school and back, hence out of the 480 new students expected at the school, only 268 have so far reported.

“The parents and guardians are now calling our office promising to bring their children at a later date. We will be forced to continue admitting students even over the weekend,” he said.

The school located in Narok Central Sub County was ranked among the best schools in Narok County after it managed to get a mean grade of 8.3, recording a significant increase in mean exam scores from 4.2 in 2022 to 8.3 in 2023, with 62 out of 63 candidates scoring above a C+.

The school has 11 teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and another 14 teachers employed by the Board of management.

Kuluo thanked the parents for their continued support to the school, started way back 2017 that has seen improved infrastructure and good academic performance at the facility, despite its few years of existence.

The principal hailed the school's close collaboration with parents, resulting in high sense of students’ discipline, improved performance and the requisite school infrastructure.

Kuluo stated that their teachers were highly motivated and ensured comprehensive coverage of the syllabus, thus allowing the students ample time to revise before undertaking the national examination.
