Two minors drown in a dam at Maji Moto area-Narok

Kirkurkur village in Maji Moto area, Narok South Sub County is mourning the death of two minors who drowned in a dam today.
The area Deputy County Commissioner Felix Kisalu said police assisted by specialist divers managed to retrieve the bodies of the siblings, Lemaitam Nasi and Soipan Nasi.
He revealed that the minors had gone to fetch water in the dam, which is a few kilometers from their homestead when the unfortunate incident happened.
Kisalu called on the members of the public to exercise caution especially when sending unaccompanied minors to the dam during the season the schools are being closed for the long holiday.
The administrator also warned against crossing swollen rivers during this rainy season to avoid being swept away by flash floods.
“It is so unfortunate that the two minors lost their lives while they were helping their parents fetch water. I advise parents to be careful when sending their young children to fetch water without being accompanied by an adult,” he said.
The bodies of the two minors were taken to Narok County Referral Hospital morgue for preservation as the family organizes for their burial.
In another incident, a family at Oldonyo Ngiro location in Narok South Sub County is counting losses after their house was struck by lightning and gutted to ashes.
However, three people who were in the house at the time of the incident escaped death narrowly as they were quickly rescued by security personnel.
The three; Hellen Chepkwony, her husband Samuel Chepkwony and a neighbor Paul Koech were rushed to Ololunga Sub County hospital where they are receiving treatment.
