With a few days remaining to UDA Party nomination slated for April 14, 2022, the Uasin-Gishu gubernatorial race is taking an ugly twist over the alleged abduction of a blogger.
Barmuriat Muriat, a resident of Uasin-Gishu County and a sharp critic of one of the gubernatorial aspirants is missing, a move that has sparked outrage from embers of the public and a section of leaders alike.
The blogger is also a digital strategist for Julius Bitok who is also seeking to succeed Governor Jackson Mandago.

Taking to social media Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi claimed that the perpetrators are well known and should produce the hijacked blogger.
"If anything happened to Barmuriat Muriat, we all know the people behind his abduction and we will not allow such things," Sudi said.
The legislator's remarks were shared across social media platforms, a move that spark reactions among Uasin-Gishu County residents.
Soy MP Caleb Kositany who is also eyeing the Uasin Gishu County top seat, seconded Sudi's sentiments.
Kositany further stated that the alleged gubernatorial aspirant has been moving around extorting money from sections of residents so as to secure vacancies.
"We are puzzled by the report of a young boy who was hijacked by people of a certain gubernatorial aspirant who has been moving around conning people their money. We are giving them an ultimatum to produce the young boy," said Kositany.
However, the legislator's sentiments sparked reactions after sections of residents claimed that the kidnapping was stage-managed in a move to suit their political narrative to taint the image of a leading gubernatorial aspirant.
The Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat has attracted Kositany, Bitok, businessman Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki, Jonathan Bii aka Koti Moja, among others.
