The newly deployed Loitoktok Deputy County Commissioner Anthony Maina Macharia on Tuesday warned residents against engaging in businesses dealing with counterfeit goods.
Mr Macharia said dealing with counterfeit goods robs the county and country at large substantial amount of revenue.
The DCC said this during an all Sub County leaders introductory forum at Catholic hall in Loitoktok where he urged the residents to comply with Kenya Revenue Authority regulations by paying taxes due to them.
He further said that the payment of taxes will help both national and county governments to perform their functions and also achieve their development agenda quickly.
Macharia also gave a stern warning to those engaging in theft of motorbikes in the sub county saying once caught, they would be dealt with mercilessly. The Sub County boss said the stolen motorcycles are sold in Tanzania.
The DCC also cautioned bars and restaurants owners against operating their businesses without valid licenses as well as operating at odd hours not stipulated in the alcoholic drinks control act.
He called on bar and restaurant owners to be wary of drug and substance dealers conducting their illegal businesses in their premises.
He encouraged residents to work closely with Sub County security apparatus by reporting incidents of crimes in their localities to reduce crime.
While welcoming him, Loitoktok Sub County Police Commander Shadrach Rutto urged the administrator to consider upgrading Kimana police post to a police station.
Rutto urged the local community to stop killing wildlife straying into their farms but instead inform KWS for assistance.
Maina has replaced the former DCC Wesley Koech who was promoted and deployed to Tharaka Nithi as the County Commissioner.
