Shock as goons exhume body in Njoro

Residents of Bagaria Village in Lare, Njoro Sub-County are calling security agents to intervene and investigate an incident where the body of a female was exhumed by unknown people. 

According to the deceased’s daughter, Esther Nyambura, her mother was buried two months ago and her grave was tampered with last week on Tuesday whereby the culprits dug it out but later hurriedly covered it up before sunrise. 

This prompted them to seek a court order for the exhumation exercise. Before they could obtain the order, they were surprised to find the grave open yesterday morning with some parts of the casket dumped near the Bagaria River. 

Nyambura called upon the area residents and well-wishers to help raise the amount and allow their mother be buried decently. She further insisted on the need for intervention by the police to help unravel this matter and bring the criminals to book.

Father Makarios Ngugi well known to the deceased family said that this is a bizarre occurrence that has left the locals in utter shock and disbelief.

He said that they have no idea of the motive of those who committed the act since the deceased identified as Rose Njeri lived a calm life and had no known enemies. 

Area Chief, David Githiga termed this incident as unfortunate and urged the locals to remain calm as investigations into the matter by police officers commence. 

Till the issuance of the order, the locals have resorted to covering the grave using concrete to avoid any further damage.
