The Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) has slammed the Orange Democratic Movement party for betraying the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.

This statement comes after members of ODM joined President William Ruto's administration as Cabinet Secretaries.

Speaking in an interview with Spice FM on Monday, August 12, 2024, DAP K party leader Eugene Wamalwa said Azimio movement had good intentions.

He accused Azimio members who joined the government stating they have personal interests.

He emphasized that joining the government was not part of Azimio's agenda.

"For us as Azimio to actually go into bed with Ruto, it is betrayal of the highest order," said Wamalwa.

He termed ODM's move as "betrayal" and said they went against Azimio's principles.

"We have disagreed as a matter of principle because people were saying 'Okoa Kenya from Zakayo' but part of Azimio is saying 'Tuokoe Zakayo', the two are irreconcilable differences," he said.

He claimed that ODM members joining the government contributed to the immense challenges in Azimio.

On the other hand, Wamalwa criticized the Report of the National Dialogue Committee for failing to address Kenyans issues, particularly cost of living.

He described the NADCO report as a "trap" set to calm down the situation in the country.

He slammed the report for leadership positions.

"They had no intention of addressing the real issues that took the people to the street.

"People did not die for Mudavadi to get an office, for Raila to get an office, they wanted their lives bated and this was not achieved at Bomas," he stated.

He affirmed that one of Azimio's priorities was to oppose the controversial Finance Bill.

However, Wamalwa admitted that the DAP K party will soon give out their notice concerning their fate in Azimio.

" Martha Karua and Peter Munya have given notice to Azimio, very soon DAP K will give out notice, " he stated.

" I think we have reached a point of divorce. In marriage when grounds of divorce arrive, one of those is when you have reconcilable differences, " said Wamalwa.

To date, NARC Kenya party of Martha Karua and PNU party of Peter Munya have issued their notice of ditching Azimio.
