Over 91, 778 of students to sit for national examinations in Makueni County

A total of 91,778 candidates are expected to sit for Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in Makueni County in 2023.
The examination, which will kick off on October 30, will see 26, 835puplis sit for KPSEA, and 34, 794 pupils sit for KCPE. All the candidates will have a rehearsal on Friday the October 27, 2023.
There will be 14,272 boys and 12,553 girls sitting for KPSEA while in KCPE 18,217 boys and 16,575 girls are expected to sit the national examinations this year.
Also 30,149 candidates will sit for KCSE, 15,059 of them being girls. However, the students doing languages and practicals started their exams on Monday October 23 while the other students will start their exams from November 6 to 24.
“In the 9 Sub Counties, there are at least 2 or 3 containers where centre managers will collect the examination papers. We have also identified schools that could be affected by El Nino and taken measures to find alternative routes to ferry the examination papers,” said the Makueni County Quality Assurance and Standard Manager (CQASM) Dr. Samson Arodi while speaking to KNA in his Wote office on Wednesday.
Dr. Arodi disclosed that they have identified vehicles that will ferry examination papers to schools besides having a backup of security officers to ensure the papers are taken to the centres and security is provided.
The Manager also revealed that there will be 996 centres for KPSEA, 973 for KCPE and 420 for KCSE.
Speaking to KNA her office on Wednesday the County Adult Education Officer Prisca Nduku said that a total of 104 candidates would sit for KCPE and KCSE this year.
She further said that 31 males and 6 females will sit for KCPE whereas 36 males and 31 females will do KCSE in the county.
When contacted for comment, the Officer in charge of Makueni Prison Joshua Mutiso said that 9 inmates will sit for KCPE this year.
