Popular tout Gerald Mwangi Alias Makanga Bae dies

Popular Super metro conductor Gerald Mwangi Alias Makanga Bae has tragically passed away following a grisly road accident on Thursday, a relative reported . 

"RIP Cuz, "You had too much life left to live, we will miss you", wrote Mwinyi, Mwangi's close family member.

According to a post shared by his Employer, Super Metro, Mwangi died in the accident while in the line of duty. He succumbed to his injuries while on intensive Care Treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital. 

Friends had launched a social media campaign appealing for blood and financial donation in efforts to save his life. 

Reports indicate that one of Mwangi's leg had been amputated while in a comma. 

Steven Mwangi gained widespread recognition after his video while collecting bus fare went viral. Kenyans were quick to notice his sticking looks and full beard.

Unlike typical Nairobi conductors who are often rowdy, rude and dirty, Mwangi turned out to shock many as he was calm, collected, organized and polite. He was also very neat and clean,virtues that earned him respect amongst his colleagues and Kenyans alike. 

Many also admired him for his dedication and commitment to his profession. 

Despite his popularity, Mwangi's journey as a tout was met with criticism and controversy due to the choice of his work despite holding a degree in catering. 

In a previous interview with a local media outlet, the conductor revealed that his mother did not want him to become a tout. 

He however noted that he opted for the job as a tout due to lack of employment at his field of specialization. 

Close family members have eulogized Mwangi as a dedicated young man, despite the nature of his job.

"He was so passionate about his work. Such a testament that whatever work you are involved in, be excellent at it. Stand out. RIP, Gero", Mwangi's cousin wrote.

According to his family, his death came as a shock because he was doing better and they were expecting that he would recover.
