Ruto leaves for US visit

President William Ruto leaves the country on Wednesday night for an official visit to the United States of America (USA).
According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, Ruto is expected to hold a series of meetings with leaders of tech companies, among them Google, Microsoft, Intel and Apple.
The meetings with take place in Silicon Valley, San Francisco.
He will thereafter attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York.
''The global gathering will assess progress towards the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), address critical global challenges such as the climate crisis and debt concerns in the Global South,'' said Mohamed in a statement shared to newsrooms.
Ruto will also participate in the United Nation (UN) Secretary-General’s Climate Ambition Summit.
It will serve as a build up on the recently concluded Africa Climate Summit (ACS) held in Nairobi last week.
''On the sidelines of the General Assembly, President Ruto will chair a session of the committee of African Heads of State and Government on climate change and participate in discussions on the high-level panel for sustainable ocean economy."
The USA visit comes as Ruto marks one year in office.
That duration has seen him travel to several countries around the World, among them United Kingdom, Qatar, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and South Korea.
Political analyst Herman Manyora has on various occasions urged him to reduce his domestic and foreign trips, and instead focus on serving the electorate.
The Head of State is expected to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders during the visit to the US.
