West Pokot Women Representative Rael Kasiwai yesterday condemned the recent attacks in the region.

The attacks occurred on the West Pokot-Turkana county border.

In an interview with the press, Kasiwai said the attacks have caused an increase in insecurity in the region.

Kasiwai criticized the leaders of other neighboring counties for being irresponsible on the frontline of restoring peace and unity.

"I want to condemn all these killings in the strongest terms possible because this is not bringing unity amongst us," Kasiwai said, condemning the recent attacks.

She mentioned Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai for failing to intervene in promoting peace.

The MP claimed that the Turkana Governor is supporting the banditry attacks along the county border.

She argued that leaders from West Pokot are ready for peace reconciliation and they have been preaching peace for a long time.

"I feel very pained because we, as leaders of West Pokot, have accepted peace...but what is making me angry are some leaders from our neighboring counties, especially the Turkana governor, who do not preach peace," she claimed.

Kasiwai urged leaders from Turkana and Elgeyo Marakwet to cooperate with them in ensuring peace prevails in the region.

On the other hand, the politician condemned the security personnel for failing to respond to the attacks on the boundaries.

As a representative of the Pokot people, she raised concerns to the government to ensure their rights are protected by providing strong security in the region.

Since last month, tension has been building up along the West Pokot and Turkana county border after one person was killed at Takaiywa village by suspected bandits from neighboring Turkana County.
