Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has officially been appointed as the Deputy Party Leader of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) replacing ousted DP Rigathi Gachagua.
The designation was made during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, marking a very strategic leadership addition to the party’s structure as it continues to strengthen its presence nationwide.
"UDA party National Executive Committee (NEC) Designates Deputy President H.E. Kithure Kindiki, as its Deputy Party Leader effective immediately," UDA said.
While reading the resolutions, UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire and Secretary General Hassan Omar said Gachagua’s replacement was necessary since he was not able to effectively adress party issues.
The officials gave the incoming deputy party leader assurance saying his unmatched skills will help in taking the party forward.
Kindiki expressed his readiness to serve loyally, emphasizing that the party will collaborate with other institutions to address challenges affecting both the party and the country.
"I want to assure you of my unwavering party to the ideals that our party stands for. I will work with all the organs established under our party constitution for the good and better performance of our party," he said.
The deputy president said he is assuming the role of deputy party leader at a time when the country is at a crossroads, stating that the UDA party stands for unity for all Kenyans regardless of their background.
"There has been a conversation around our nationhood and identity as the people of Kenya. Having been a founder member of UDA, I am aware that our party stands for the unity of our country. The unity of Kenya is not a threat to the segments that constitute Kenya," he added.
