How to check 2024 form one placement

By Peter Ochieng

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Ombaki Machogu on Monday released results of the 2024 form one placement exercise.

Speaking during the event at Lenana School, Nairobi, the CS said all over 1 million candidates who sat for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams has been placed in a secondary school, under the government’s 100 percent transition policy.

The CS said a parent or guardian can check where a learner has been placed, through the ministry of education’s official websites; www.education.go.ke. or www.kemis.education.go.ke.

One will then search form one placements, will direct you to the form one selection page, where placement results can be accessed. One can be able to download joining instructions from the two websites.

“Upon downloading the joining instructions, the candidate must present the letter to the head teacher of the primary school where they sat their KCPE Examination for authentication.”

“Principals are advised to confirm that letters presented to them belong to learners who will strictly be on their selection list. Primary and Secondary Schools can access their selection lists from the NEMIS platform,” added the CS.

Machogu said that admission of form one students will be done online, through the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS).

He warned Head Teachers and Principals against any fee increment. "I wish to state that the boarding fees charged in public secondary schools will remain unchanged in 2024. If any monkey business is done anywhere, the information will come. Parents are undergoing difficult financial challenges. Unless there is express approval from my office, no fee increase should happen."

The CS directed regional and county directors of education to see to it that no principal increases school fees.
