Martha Karua: I never said Kalonzo, Gideon Moi are traitors

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has dismissed reports that she described former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi as traitors.
This follows a decision by the two parties leaders of Wiper and KANU to join Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
According to a story published in a local daily, Karua had described Kalonzo and Moi as traitors.
But responding to the story, the former Gichugu Member of Parliament termed the story as ‘deliberate distortion’.

She dared the publication to provide a video to justify their title.
“Shame on you for deliberate distortion. These are your words not mine! I dare you to post the video,” Martha Karua tweeted.
While quoting her interview on NTV, the publication noted that Karua said One Kenya Alliance ended the moment Wiper and Kanu signed a deal to join Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja.
“OKA was our collaborators with the sole purpose being negotiating together meaning, we were to talk with other formations together. However, our colleagues entered another agreement during the Azimio National Delegates Conference (NDC). In other words, the purpose of coming up with OKA collapsed that particular day,” said the former MP, eyeing the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat.
“If, as individual parties, while negotiating what was on the table was enough for them, there is no way we could block them. It was their democratic right to do so,” she added.
Karua was absent when Kalonzo and Moi joined Azimio, and said she was ‘relaxing at home’ instead.
Since then, she has not yet declared which political formation she would join between Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza.
On Tuesday, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria suggested that Karua would be an ideal Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in Kenya Kwanza.
But even as both camps hope to land the iron lady, she says there is still room for her to join either of the two popular political coalitions.
She also did not rule out joining the former OKA principles in Azimio.
“We are still friends because even before that signing, we were still working together. Yes, individual parties parted ways with OKA but we can still work together. There is no deadline for people to work together. Even those of our colleagues whom we were with in OKA, we can still walk together in this journey without any agreement,” said Karua, as quoted by Nation Africa.
