Citizen TV news anchor Lulu Hassan has bagged a major award for her contributing role in the Film Industry in East Africa.
Lulu Hassan who also doubles up as a film producer was named ‘Mwanamke wa Shoka’ during the annual Kitchen Party Gala that celebrates women in different aspects.
The award was for her role in producing films that have been a major hit in the region.

Taking to her Instagram account to celebrate the new achievement, Lulu Hassan thanked all that have supported her work.
“Taking this opportunity to thank God for the far He Has brought me, but most of all, I want to say I couldn’t do this without all of you. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ME. ”Lulu hassan atawazwa kama mwanamke wa shoka afrika mashariki nchini Tanzania!” the TV anchor posted on Instagram.
Her husband, Rashid Abdalla, who also works with Lulu Hassan in film production congratulated her for the big win.
Abdalla who co-hosts
Citizen TV Nipashe Wikendi show with Lulu Hassan noted that the ‘Mwanamke wa Shoka’ award is testimony that her contribution to the film industry has been felt in East Africa.
“#sisemikitu Hongera sana @loulou_hassan kwa tuzo hii ya heshima. Uwepo wako na mchango wako katika tasnia ya filamu umehisiwa Afrika Mashariki. Endelea kugusa nafsi za wengi,” Rashid Abdala posted on his Instagram account.
Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla Co-own a production studio dubbed Jiffy Pictures Productions.
The duo is known for being the brains behind popular films among them
Maria, Aziza, and
Zora (that aired on
Citizen TV) as well as
Huba which aired on Maisha Magic East Africa.
She also produced
Sultana, a film that airs every weekday on
Citizen TV from 7.30 pm.
In 2021, Lulu Hassan was named the best producer in TV Drama Award during the Women in Film Awards 2021 (WIFA).
