Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua has announced that she does not subscribe to either Azimio la Umoja or Kenya Kwanza coalitions, which have been deemed as the two top horses in the August presidential election. Speaking during an interview with NTV on Monday night, Karua noted that she is a comfortable and happy member of Narc-Kenya. Karua, however, noted that she and her party are open to talks with other like-minded outfits, adding that there is deadline for holding talks and forming coalitions. “Martha Karua belongs to Narc-Kenya. She is not outside in the rain… She is in a comfortable home called Narc-Kenya… There is no deadline for people getting coalitions we can still walk together even with my former OKA team players,” she told NTV. Regarding a recent decision by her One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals to sign a coalition deal with Azimio la Umoja, Karua noted that it was within their right. According to Karua, OKA was founded with the sole purpose of creating one unit to negotiate and engage other players, but since the other three principals; Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (KANU) and Cyrus Jirongo (UDP) decidedto join Azimio, then OKA failed to meet its purpose. But our colleagues decided to sign an agreement on their own during the Azimio National Delegates Conference. This means the sole purpose of forming OKA failed on that day. But we are still friends,” she opined. “As Narc-Kenya we cannot hold anyone back… We all had the freedom to opt in or out of OKA. So it is their right," she added. The Narc-Kenya Party leader has expressed interest in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat and will be facing off with among others; incumbent governor Anne Waiguru (UDA)and area Woman Rep Purity Ngirici.
