Residents with small claims in Loitoktok Sub County will soon receive justice after the Judiciary launched a small claims court in Loitoktok.

When launching the court, Deputy Registrar, Kadhi Court Mr. Ishaq Abduljarbar said small claims court is enshrined in the constitution for justice for all.

The Deputy Registrar said some criminal cases taken to courts are offences committed when culprits take the law into their hands as they seek to get their claims hence the establishment of small claims courts.

Abduljarbar further noted that the small claims court is aimed at bringing justice closer to the people and will serve only residents within its territorial jurisdiction.

The Deputy Registrar elaborated that the small claims court in Loitoktok will only serve residents from Loitoktok Sub County, adding this will fast track not only justice but also ease accessibility to the court as well hence reducing travel expenses.

He further pointed out that the court will serve residents with claims related to business agreements and some claims on insurance compensations.

"The court will also serve residents with claims on movable assets such as vehicles, compensation on destruction of property, and claims related to debts," added Abduljarbar.

However, the Deputy Registrar observed that the small claims court will determine cases with up to Sh 1 Million and should be concluded within 60 days.

He called upon the residents to seek Alternative Dispute Resolution which is encouraged by the Judiciary before rushing to court so as to avoid overloading the courts and leading to backlogs.

He expressed appreciation to Loitoktok Law Court Principal Magistrate Ms. Judicaster Nthuku for her dedication which has attracted the establishment of the Small Claims Court in Loitoktok.

On her part, Nthuku lauded the Judiciary for recognizing the need for a Small Claims Court in Loitoktok for fast-tracking the dispensation of justice.

Nthuku called upon the residents with small claims not to shy from seeking justice at Loitoktok law court promising quick dispensation of justice within the stipulated period of two months.
