Wajackoyah lectures an MCA who accused him of smoking bhang

By Peter Ochieng

A Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Bungoma County faced the wrath of Roots party leader George Wajackoyah, after he accused him of smoking bhang.

Speaking during the burial of Lawrence Sifuna, former Bumula Member of Parliament on Saturday, the MCA urged Western MPs to united behind National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetang'ula.

The MCA called on Wajackoyah to stop 'some of the things you're eating' and rally behind Wetang'ula as the Luhya kingpin.

"Waluke kindly unite all the Members of Parliament in Western under Moses Wetang'ula. We want to speak in one voice as the Luhya nation. Wajackoyah wacha vitu zingine unakula, kuja, wewe ni mluhya omwami (stop other things you are eating, come, you are a luhya Sir)," said the MCA.

The Roots party leader was among the four presidential candidates during the August 9th, 2022 polls.

One of his key agendas was to legalise use of marijuana or bhang for medicinal purposes, had he been elected Kenya's 5th president As such, some people branded him a 'joker and bhang smoker.'

He is aligned to the Azimio political formation, while Wetang'ula is a member of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. When he rose to speak, Wajackoyah told off the MCA, challenging him to go back to school.

"I'm now doing my 14th degree, therefore, Mr. MCA, go back to school. You were just born yesterday, you can't come here with mucus in your nose and say that I smoke bhang."

Wajackoyah finished third in the presidential race, behind president William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The late Lawrence Sifuna was paternal uncle to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

Odinga and Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka are among leaders who attended his burial.
